Seven Wounded as Blast Derails Pakistan Cargo Train
(MENAFN) At least seven people were wounded after a powerful blast derailed a cargo train in southwestern Pakistan on Sunday, officials and local media confirmed.
The explosion struck a railway line in Quetta, the capital of Balochistan province, as the train traveled toward the city's cantonment area, media reported. Sustained gunfire was also heard in the aftermath of the blast.
A spokesman for Civil Hospital Quetta confirmed that all seven injured were admitted to the facility, where an emergency had been declared. Babar Yousafzai, a special assistant to the provincial home department, told reporters that security forces and rescue teams had been swiftly deployed to the scene as police worked to determine the nature of the explosion.
No group immediately claimed responsibility.
