Israel Military Forces Push into Syrian Villages
Syrian media documented the operation, reporting that Israel's army dispatched eight military vehicles alongside three tanks from Tel al-Ahmar, advancing westward into Ain al-Zaywan and Sweisa within Southern Quneitra's countryside.
The deployment remained in Sweisa for approximately one hour before proceeding toward Dawayah, a small village, while armored units simultaneously penetrated Abu Qubais hill, media confirmed.
Sources on the ground indicated the military presence was short-lived, with forces retreating without conducting arrests or causing casualties.
Just one day earlier, Israeli troops had entered Saida al-Hanout village in southern Quneitra, briefly detaining three young men before their release, media added Thursday.
This latest operation follows a controversial incident reported days ago by an Israeli TV channel, which detailed how Israeli soldiers confiscated approximately 250 goats from Syrian land, transporting the livestock to settlements in the occupied West Bank.
Israel's military police took disciplinary action against personnel involved, the channel reported, adding that measures included removing the team commander, issuing a formal reprimand to the company commander and suspending the unit's activity for an extended period. An active investigation continues, the outlet noted.
The incursion contradicts an agreement forged earlier this month between Syria and Israel establishing a US-supervised communication mechanism aimed at reducing military escalation and facilitating coordination, according to a trilateral statement issued following talks in Paris.
Israeli forces have conducted nearly daily border violations into Syrian territory—particularly targeting Quneitra's countryside—where they've detained civilians, erected checkpoints, interrogated residents and demolished agricultural land.
Following the collapse of Bashar al-Assad's regime in late 2024, Israel dramatically extended its occupation of the Syrian Golan Heights, capturing the demilitarized buffer zone in direct violation of a 1974 bilateral agreement.
