LDCENY Launches Opportunity Fund to Support Small Businesses in East Brooklyn

The program, developed in collaboration with the Brooklyn Women’s Business Center, the East Brooklyn Business Improvement District, and HSBC Bank, provides financial assistance and business support to entrepreneurs in communities with historically limited access to capital.
Through the Opportunity Fund, selected participants may receive up to $10,000 in grant funding. In addition to financial support, the program includes business training, mentorship, and a live pitch component where entrepreneurs present their businesses.
Many small business owners face challenges accessing traditional financing, which can limit their ability to grow and expand. This initiative is intended to provide resources that help entrepreneurs strengthen their operations and prepare for long-term sustainability.
“When you invest in small businesses, you are investing in the economic future of a community,” said Camille Newman, Director of Economic Development and Entrepreneurship at LDCENY. “This initiative is focused on supporting local entrepreneurs, creating jobs, and strengthening neighborhood-based economies.”
Participants in the program will work through a structured process designed to support business development, including guidance on planning, operations, and presentation. The goal is to help entrepreneurs build capacity and position their businesses for future opportunities.
The Opportunity Fund also reflects a broader effort to support economic activity at the neighborhood level. As small businesses grow, they contribute to local job creation, commercial activity, and community stability.
Applications for the LDCENY Opportunity Fund are now open.
