Qatar Announces Full Restoration of Maritime Navigation
In an official statement released Saturday, the MOT declared: "The MOT announces the full return of maritime navigation for all types of maritime vessels and ships, as of Sunday, April 12, 2026, from 06.00 am (0300GMT) to 06.00 pm (1500GMT)."
The ministry further clarified that, consistent with a prior directive, "sailing is allowed all day long for maritime vessels licensed for fishing activity" — extending unrestricted access to the fishing sector beyond the standard operational window.
All vessel operators were urged to comply fully with the directive and ensure that requisite safety protocols are firmly in place ahead of resumption.
The announcement marks a pivotal development for one of the region's most strategically positioned maritime hubs, coming amid the fragile US-Iran ceasefire and ongoing efforts to stabilize waterway access across the Gulf following weeks of heightened regional tensions.
